Valley Forge visitor center - Fuji X100F

von Stuben monument in Valley Forge - Fuji X100F (ACROS)

In late August, we took a 4-day family trip to Philadelphia to visit the historic sites and walk the city. Our first stop on our way was to historic Valley Forge national park. It was a warm and sunny afternoon, so we decided to walk the park. Most of the major monuments can be reached by car or a trolley tour, so walking the 6+ miles is not mandatory. Consult the map of Valley Forge if you visit.

We started our tour at the visitor center and followed the walking trail to the log huts and on to the Memorial Arch, then on to the Philadelphia Columns, the artillery park, then von Stuben's monument, and finally Washington's Memorial Chapel.

At that point it was late in the day and we decided to head on to downtown Philadelphia even thought there remains plenty more to be seen of the park.

As usual, I brought the Fujifilm X100F with me for photographs on our trip. The sun was high in the sky and made for challenging conditions to shoot with the bright light and harsh shadows, however the Fuji X100F did a great job of capturing the scenes. Because the X100F's battery life is much better than my X100S, I've been using the OVF more and more lately. I was able to go all afternoon and evening shooting about 100 images using only 25% of the battery (I do shut the camera off when not shooting). I bounced back and forth between Classic Chrome and ACROS black and white during the trip and all the images here have been rendered using Adobe Lightroom Classic and the Fujifilm Classic Chrome and ACROS film simulations. Most images have contrast and exposure edits, while a few of the landscape photos with large amounts of sky have had gradient filters applied to recover the details in the sky.

Stay tuned for additional phots from our time in Philadelphia. Thanks for stopping by today.
