A quick stop to photograph the hillside
How quickly October has come and gone.
What started out as a subdued and muted foliage season exploded into a vibrant Fall. Due to a week of cold and wet weather in the third week, the colors quickly reached peak in the New York Capital District mid-week and by the weekend the scenery was looking well-past peak. When Sunday turned into a sunny and cool afternoon, I grabbed the Fuji X100S and headed out for a drive to find the last remnants of color.
I worked my way West of Albany, NY and the hills south of I90 expecting the higher elevations North and East to be well-past peak. Unfortunately, I found mostly muted colors or bare trees.
On one stretch of road south of Amsterdam, NY I got lucky. The rolling fields were green, the hills in the background were vibrant, and the sun was mostly obscured by big white puffy clouds. I found a few places to pull-off the main road and take photographs of the hillside.
After these images, I headed North through Amsterdam, NY where the scenery took on the muted tones of November indicating the photos of Autumn 2016 are done.
I say this every year, but hopefully next year I can find more time to get out and shoot.
