Chicago's Dearborn Street bridge in the morning - Fuji X100F

Chicago Trip

June 2, 2018

I visited Chicago in early May on a business trip. Fortunately the weather was excellent and I had remembered to pack my Fuji X100F in my business case, so I decided to take advantage of the situation and walked the 1.5 miles between my hotel and the office building each morning and evening.

The Empire State Building from Brooklyn New York (click to enlarge)

New York City & Brooklyn

October 14, 2017

In April, we traveled to Bushwick Inlet Park on the East River bank in Brooklyn New York for a soccer game. Since I was there for a soccer game, I had the Canon 7D Mark II and the Canon EF 100-400MM F/4.0-5.6L IS USM lens with me. Having arrived nearly an hour before game time, there was plenty of time to explore the park and I found there were many opportunities to use the 100-400MM's reach to capture the city and architecture around the park.

Hefner Hall - San Diego State University

San Diego State University

January 22, 2016

While attending the 2016 AIAA SciTech conference in San Diego, Ca., I had the pleasure of visiting the campus of San Diego State University and their engineering facilities as a guest of a long-time colleague and friend who is now a faculty member at the university. It was a cool and wet afternoon, so we dodged the rain by running from building to building and stopping for a few minutes to have coffee.

The above image is of the iconic Hepner Hall. The image below is of the more recently built Aztec Student Union building.

All images are shot with the Fuji X100s handheld and processed with Nik Software's Silver Efex Pro II.

Thanks to Xiaofeng Liu for being our gracious tour guide.

Have a great day!

The view from the Manchester Grand Hyatt in black and white

January 20, 2016

While attending the 2016 AIAA SciTech conference in San Diego, Ca., I stayed at the Manchester Grand Hyatt hotel. One afternoon on a lunch break, I took the above photo of my hotel room view and the Marriott hotel next door while getting caught up on email.

Photographed with the Fuji X100s handheld.

Thanks for stopping by!

Park Street Church - Boston

Park Street Church - Boston

Park Street Church - Boston

December 14, 2015

On our recent trip to Boston to watch the Fighting Irish in the Shamrock Series game, we spent the afternoon walking the Freedom Trail from Quincy Market to Boston Commons. Above is the historic Park Street Church as seen from the Granary Burying Ground.

The late afternoon sun was lighting the spire as the shadows grew deeper within the Burying Ground.

The above image was shot handheld with the Fuji X100s. I used two exposures to create a HDR image using Photoshop CC to properly expose both the sky and trees in the foreground.

Have a great day!
